Scope:
This project involves the excavation and installation of 8 x 125mm conduits over a 2.8 km stretch, running through the backstreets of Rydalmere, Ermington, and into the new Melrose Park subdivision. The scope also includes a directional bore (HDD) under Victoria Road and the full permanent restoration of roads, footpaths, and driveways.
Total Length: 2.8 kilometres
Key Challenges:
The key challenges encountered during this project include:
- A large volume of existing underground services, many of which were unknown.
- Ongoing communication with the local community to minimize inconvenience and disruption.
- The complex design of the underbore beneath Victoria Road, which needed to comply with both TfNSW and Endeavour Energy requirements. This process has been lengthy.
- Traffic control in tight streets, with adjustments made to minimize delays and ensure smooth traffic flow.
Result:
Road and Rail Excavations has successfully completed approximately 90% of the project. Through hard work and collaboration, we have been able to overcome these challenges and deliver a high-quality result.
