Utility Treatment Works
ClientPCPLRCommencedApril 2020CompletedOct 2022Share

Scope: Utility treatment package works, including the installation of new electrical, potable water, gas, communications, stormwater, and streetlighting assets, as well as new smart pole foundations, commissioning works, and the removal of abandoned assets to facilitate the laying of LR track. With the successful delivery of a turnkey project solution, Road and Rail (RNR) became the preferred contractor for additional works across various scopes, including traffic switches, weekend shutdown works, and temporary works installations.

Total Length: 1.2km, multiple alignments

Key Challenges: The complex staging of works around commissioning deadlines for each utility, compounded by site access constraints due to traffic restrictions outside hospital emergency services access. The project-wide Rationalised Utility Model was utilized to troubleshoot complex proposed alignments, mitigating future costs and delays for the client.

Result: Road and Rail has successfully delivered the contract scope of works, enabling the client to meet external milestones despite delayed site possession. Safety procedures and methodologies were seamlessly aligned with the client’s safety essentials, leading to multiple project-wide awards and commendations from both the client and state governing bodies for excellence in safety and sustainability management.
