Scope:
Case Number 172632PW involved the relocation of 380 meters of 150mm and 100mm DICL mains, primarily at standard depths. The project also included property connections, four connections to the existing main, and the installation of an 80-meter temporary OD 125mm poly main.
Total Length: 460 meters
Key Challenges:
Challenges faced during the project included working within tight corridors, operating behind barriers with limited access, managing a constantly evolving site with multiple traffic switches, excavating to depths of up to 3.5 meters, navigating around multiple existing services, and excavating rock with services running parallel to the trench. Additionally, the installation of the temporary main had to be completed over a single weekend, including all necessary testing.
Result:
Road and Rail Excavations successfully completed the entire scope within the required time frames and budget, maintaining high standards of quality and safety throughout the project. Innovative solutions were implemented to overcome significant challenges, including hammering rock in close proximity to existing services and the installation of the 80-meter temporary main over one weekend with multiple crews.
